Mr. Stark told the board the district is routing approximately 9,300 public school students and 3,050 nonpublic school students and that routing is approximately "99% complete." He said simulated computer runs were completed, vendor runs are pending, and vendors will receive route rosters by noon on Friday so they can begin operational runs once contracts are in place.
Stark acknowledged challenges that led to a poor transportation opening last year — a migration to new routing software and data integrity issues — and said the district engaged Ammon Consulting Group to improve operations and vendor training. He said contractor assignments have been consolidated so each school will have fewer contractors serving multiple routes and the district is working on contingency standard operating procedures for common bus issues (incorrect passes, wrong stops) to present to the board in August.
