"Partnership is key to expanding access to nutritious food for youth during the summer months," said Dawn Page, vice president of operations for Boys & Girls Clubs of Sarasota and DeSoto counties. Page said that parents bringing children should wait at the front desk because only youth are permitted inside club facilities to receive meals.
Page described how the clubs focus on education to combat the "summer slide," providing a safe environment and additional resources such as snack backpacks and access to food pantries at select club locations to help families stretch household budgets.
