Discipline matrix revised to list state codes and consequences for clarity across parish

Committee showed a new discipline matrix (formerly the student progression chart) that now includes state code definitions and associated consequences for each infraction so consequences are consistent across the parish.
Chair (S1) described the discipline matrix changes and said the previous handbook did not include all the state codes and definitions. “We did not include all of the state codes in their definitions so that was updated to include all of the state codes their definitions and the consequence for each so it becomes consistent across the parish,” the Chair said, explaining the intent is to standardize responses districtwide.
The Chair said glossary entries for infraction definitions were removed and moved into the matrix and that additional special education terminology was added. Committee members responded positively to the increased specificity and the inclusion of revised statutes so parents could see the legal basis for policies.
