President Richard Samples provided trustees with a copy of a public notice placed in the paper regarding a boarded house owned by "Mr. Jackson" on South Main Street and described the village's potential next steps.
Samples said the property has been boarded and that, if the village ultimately assumes responsibility, it would place a lien on the property and go out for bids to demolish the house. "Once it is complete the area should be a 'green' area," Superintendent Brian English added while describing the intended post-demolition use. Trustees discussed mirroring the city's bid process for demolition contracts.
No formal motion to acquire or demolish the property was made at the special meeting; staff outlined potential procurement steps and the need to follow public-notice and bidding requirements before any demolition work or lien placement would occur.
