Commissioner Scott Austro said the groundbreaking "reflects our ongoing commitment to one of county government's most essential duties, keeping our community safe," and credited long-range planning and partnerships for moving the project from concept to construction.
John Norris, director of the Department of Public Works and Transportation, described the building as "purpose built" for support operations and named project staff and partners, including predecessor John Dietrich, assistant director Donnie Mills, team members Gary Whipple and Drew Kelly, contractor Doyle Construction and the Morgan Design Group. He said the county aims to deliver a quality facility on budget and on schedule.
