Fire Chief Rich Evans told trustees the village received an Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) that will reimburse the grant-writer fee. Evans said the grant allows $9,500.00 per pack and that the village must provide a 5% match totaling $10,845.00.
Chief Evans said adding a buddy-pack system and other safety upgrades would increase the village's required match to just under $40,000. He is working with the grant writer to determine next steps and said the department hopes to sell the old packs to recoup funds to apply toward the local match and upgrades.
