The Village of South Jacksonville Board of Trustees voted unanimously on Aug. 8, 2024 to amend and supersede Ordinances No. 969 and No. 1055 to allow video gaming and to set the annual fee for each video gaming terminal. President Richard Samples told trustees the Village may charge up to $250 per machine and that the fee would begin on Jan. 1, 2025. Trustee Paula Belobrajdic-Stewart moved to adopt the ordinance; Trustee Tom Jordan seconded and the motion passed on roll call.
Trustees discussed neighboring practice briefly: President Samples said the City of Jacksonville charges $250 per machine. The adopted fee aligns the Village with that local benchmark and provides a predictable revenue stream for businesses hosting terminals.
