The South Chicago Heights Board of Trustees adopted Ordinance 2026-ORD-4 on Feb. 2 to amend water utility rates. Mayor Terry Matthews read a letter from Chicago Heights (T.J. Sommers) informing the village of a $0.04 delivery-rate increase effective March 1, 2026; he noted the delivery rate will change from $1.34 to $1.38. Trustee Eric Stanton moved to approve the ordinance and Trustee Daryl Crudup seconded; the roll call vote was six ayes, zero nays.
The minutes do not provide additional financial modeling or projected revenue from the rate change. Board discussion recorded in the minutes focused on reading the notice and approving the ordinance; no amendments to the rate were made at the meeting. Implementation will follow usual utility billing procedures and the village will apply the new delivery rate beginning March 1.
