Laurie Powell, speaking for the York County Historical Association, told commissioners the association needs short‑term financing while awaiting the spending authority to be confirmed after a successful levy‑override result in the primary. Powell said the association has been approved by voters to increase its tax ask to $30,000 but cannot access the funds until the general election authorizes spending.
"York County Historical Association is requesting a letter of credit from the commissioners so we can go to the bank for a bridge loan to help us get through this transition," Powell said. Association representatives said they have spoken with the state auditor and their bank, and the requested letter would allow the association to secure a bridge line until county installments begin.
A commissioner moved to provide a letter of credit and authorize the chairman to sign the backing letter; the motion was seconded and adopted in roll call vote with unanimous recorded support. County staff and the association will complete the bank paperwork and return the executed document for filing.
