Council approves long-term rental agreement with Graceland Church for city facility

The City of Port of Public Works on July 16 approved an agreement allowing Graceland Church to rent the Arson Enrichment Building for long-term use beginning Jan. 1, 2027, through Dec. 31, 2028. Hannah, speaking for the parks department, told the board that the church provided required insurance and that all dates and insurance details are included in the draft agreement presented to the board.
City officials said the arrangement will generate $1,000 per week in revenue for the facility; payments will be accepted every three months to simplify refunds should the church find an alternative building and exercise a 90-day termination clause. Hannah described the reservation dates and insurance in the agreement: "So this is to use our Arson Enrichment Building for long term rentals beginning on 01/01/2027 through the end of 20 28." The board approved the contract by motion. The parks department emphasized the church agreed not to leave equipment on-site that would interfere with other rentals.
