Another commenter suggested an encapsulation product as a potentially lower-cost alternative to removal. Staff responded that the city will handle lead and asbestos disposal as part of the contract and that the costs were built into the project estimate; the city said it contracts with a disposal firm for hazardous waste documentation.
Council moved and approved the demolition contract awards and the budget amendment by voice vote.
