Owner of Jericho Road property given 60 days to abate nuisance; fine held in abeyance

Oldham County code enforcement staff presented evidence that the property at 2050 Jericho Road has been in repeated violation of the county nuisance ordinance for years, including citations for lumber, junk, trash, debris and exterior storage of nonoperating vehicles. The officer noted prior enforcement dating to 2022 and photos from inspections in March–April 2026 showing debris and several nonrunning vehicles. The officer recommended upholding citations 828 and 844, totaling $400, with part held in abeyance if the property is brought into compliance.
Homeowner Kathy Lewis testified that she had been hospitalized frequently over the past two years and has been working to clean the property when able. She described steps taken to remove items and said she had been arranging to secure vehicle titles so some vehicles can be removed. "I'm asking ... not to pay any fine. My disability ain't that much," Lewis said, asking for mercy and time to finish cleanup. Board members asked whether she could meet a remediation timeline; Lewis said she could likely finish within 30–60 days.
After discussion about progress already made and the owner's health limitations, the board voted to uphold the nuisance finding but issue a remedial order giving the owner 60 days to bring the property into compliance; the citation/fine will be held in abeyance during that period. The board recorded that if the property fails to reach compliance within the order's time frame, the previously imposed fine and enforcement remedies would be reinstated.
