Harbor Master Paul Riggio reported that minor adjustments were made to harbor buoys and moorings to improve navigation, including modifications to the double-ended anchorage in North Cove and repositioning moorings near the Essex Yacht Club channel to help the fairway. Riggio described the harbor as “functioning well” following these adjustments.
Commissioner Jeff Going expressed concern that Fairway Marker D appears positioned farther south than shown on historical charts. Riggio noted the Commission previously voted to establish the marker’s location by GPS coordinates and emphasized that any future relocation would require Commission approval, coordination with the U.S. Coast Guard, and updates to electronic navigation charts. The Commission agreed to review the marker’s location further before considering changes.
