"At the North Campus, we have 435 beautiful acres, and we only use a poor a small portion of that property," a staff member said. The committee discussed that issuing an RFP would only gather information and not commit the district to harvesting or selling timber; solicitor-drafted RFP language was available to put out to vendors.
Members supported moving the concept to the board level as an informational step; staff said returning a vendor analysis would help the district determine whether leasing, selective harvesting or another conservation-compatible strategy makes sense before any larger decision.
