Regional water district offers grants, assemblies and watershed events to district schools

Representatives from the Upper San Gabriel Valley Municipal Water District told the board about several free and grant-supported water-education resources available to district teachers and students.
Jennifer Santana, who represents the district and said she serves communities including El Monte, described the district as a wholesale importer of water and outlined hands-on curricula and teacher-facing grant funding. "Our grant applications just opened on August 25, and the deadline is October 31," said Catherine Vasquez, water resources analyst, who enumerated grant support (up to $1,000 K–12), transportation grants for museum visits and two watershed-restoration volunteer events on Oct. 18 and Nov. 8.
The presenters left flyers and business cards for school distribution and invited staff to contact the water district for applications and program scheduling.
