Public Works Superintendent Brian English told trustees the water plant was started up this week but several variable-frequency drives (VFDs) are not operating properly and may have been struck by lightning. He said crews cannot confirm the extent of the damage until service work is completed, but that water-quality tests taken after the restart "came back good."
English said a contractor will be on site next week to work on the softener plant. He also noted that the seasonal water park is closed for the season and that recent oil-and-chip road work was completed; Trustee Steve Retzer commented that the roads "look good."
