Grasshopper Fire moves into Clackamas County; Level 1 'be ready' evacuation notice issued

“The fire is now moved into Clackamas County, and our sheriff's office and our disaster management agency is activated,” County Administrator Gary told the board. Staff said the county had issued a Level 1 evacuation notice for areas from Rhododendron east to Government Camp and encouraged residents to sign up for public alerts and assemble preparedness "go kits." A Level 1 notice means residents should be ready to evacuate if conditions worsen.
The board paused business to allow emergency staff to continue monitoring weather and wind forecasts; commissioners urged residents in affected areas to stay informed and prepare medication and important documents in case evacuation orders escalate.
