Sheridan County approves FAA grant application to buy larger snow-removal loader for airport

Robert Gill, Sheridan County airport manager, asked the board to authorize a revised federal assistance application seeking FAA airport infrastructure funding for a larger snow-removal loader and plow attachment after the team determined the initial loader size was undersized. Gill said the final cost split is $514,655 from the FAA, $13,544 from state aeronautics, and $13,544 from Sheridan County’s FY26–27 airport capital improvement budget. "Therefore, I respectfully recommend the Sheridan Board of County Commissioners approve and authorize the chairwoman to sign the application for federal assistance," he said.
The board moved and seconded a motion to authorize the chair to sign the revised application; the motion carried by voice vote. The county manager noted the aeronautics commission had allocated required matching funds on May 18. The purchase will proceed according to bidding results and FAA requirements.
