Vernon County committee says define goals before drafting land-division ordinance

Committee members spent the largest portion of their meeting debating process and purpose: whether to draft ordinance text immediately or to first define goals and triggers. Attorney (Speaker 3) urged the group to "first of all, what are your goals?" and recommended that the group decide what outcomes the ordinance should accomplish before selecting language from other counties.
Several members supported using examples from other counties to identify useful sections. Chair (Speaker 1) asked members to compare Monroe County's ordinance and other templates and to mark what they like and dislike. The committee agreed on three priority areas for homework: lot-size triggers, the technical specifications required in certified survey maps, and items to include in survey/CSM submissions. The group plans to reconvene after members review and note preferred language.
