The Preston City Council approved a final employment offer for Michael Rasmussen to join the Preston City Police Department. The police chief reported background checks were complete for one candidate and asked the council for final authorization; the council approved the offer by motion and vote.
After that motion, the council presented a duty pistol to Sheriff Stoker and swore in multiple department members. Tyrell B. Winder took the oath as a new officer. Nicholas J. Hyde affirmed his oath and his duties as sergeant, pledging to uphold the constitutions of the United States and the state of Idaho and to follow the law-enforcement code of ethics. The chief outlined available academy opportunities (spring and fall sessions) and described the department’s recent reorganization to include new lieutenant and sergeant positions.
