District to pilot three science curricula and launch Project Lead The Way with grant support

Presenter told the board the district will pilot three different science curricula this year — rotating life, earth and physical science across trimesters — so teachers can evaluate materials, digital user interfaces and lab needs before a selection. "We're piloting 3 different science curriculums," the presenter said, adding that the vendors are on approved lists and that selection criteria will emphasize student engagement, teacher usability and price.

On related middle-school offerings, the presenter announced the district secured a three-year grant to support Project Lead The Way as a technology elective. "We have a 3 year grant to have this program, which we're really excited to be able to do," the presenter said, noting Marissa Richter will teach two sections and complete required training. Board members asked for syllabus materials and said they would like documentation to review before full implementation.

Separately, the board adopted a credential-waiver resolution later in the meeting to permit the instructor to teach the technology course while the district completes any additional credential or assignment processes.
