Council approves health-insurance renewal; new counseling benefit added

Greg (Speaker 5) presented the town's health-insurance renewal packet and described modest changes and a new employee benefit. Greg said the plan adds a partnership with a counseling service called Trestle Tree at no cost to employees and that out-of-state emergency coverage will transition to UnitedHealthcare’s nationwide provider network.
On the cost, Greg told the council, “Your rates are going up about 3.2% over last year's premium rates for the same package that you guys are on now.” Committee member (Speaker 1) moved to renew the policy at the new rate; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote after the chair called for aye.
Greg also described unchanged pediatric vision coverage in ACA plans and noted that voluntary adult vision premiums are steady. Staff said new ID cards will be issued to employees reflecting the change in out-of-state emergency-network coverage. No alternative plan motion passed; the council authorized staff to sign the renewal.
