Council declines to approve $4M fire-department borrowing measure without financials

Council considered Resolution #2026-16R, which would have called an election to allow the city to enter a general-obligation loan agreement and borrow up to $4,000,000 for a fire-department project. Councilmembers said the fire department had not supplied financial statements that the council requested at its April 6 meeting.
Pease moved to approve Resolution #2026-16R, but the motion failed for lack of a second. Council members also noted that fundraising signs show a $2,000,000 goal while the minutes state project cost will be around $5,000,000. The council agreed to revisit the resolution at the July 6 meeting if the requested fire-department financials are provided before then.
