Berkeley awards $400,000 contract to Food Network to expand mobile pantries and senior deliveries

Council members heard from Berkeley Food Network officials after the council placed the organization’s contract on the consent calendar and approved it.
"Last year, we provided over 2,000,000 pounds of food to residents in the East Bay, of which 2,400 of those households were Berkeley households," Andrew Crispin, executive director, said while thanking the council for the award. Pam Gray, vice chair of the organization's board, said the $400,000 contract will expand mobile pantries, increase home deliveries for seniors and create a priority shopping window for older residents.
Both the executive director and board vice chair described operational plans tied to the contract, including neighborhood pantry frequency increases and targeted home delivery for residents with mobility limitations. The council moved the item on the consent calendar and approved the consent vote later in the meeting.
