Council delays vote on proposed R&D tax exemption, asks for more analysis

Speakers during public comment raised worries about gentrification and local small-business impacts if the city offered tax relief to well-funded biotech companies. One small-business owner said she had spoken with other proprietors who worried the exemption would be “an egregious handout to large corporations.” The council agreed to continue the item for further review rather than act on it at this meeting.
