On technology and instruction, the board approved language requiring students to disclose the use of AI on assignments when teachers request it and adding a rule that prohibits using AI to bully, harass, threaten or impersonate someone or to create inappropriate images of people. Castaneda said staff policies mirror these rules and that misuse involving inappropriate images could be referred to law enforcement.
Board members asked whether the district had received parent calls; Castaneda said principals had fielded a small number of calls asking that medical-device exceptions be respected. She also said staff will bring a more detailed implementation plan to a future meeting.
The board did not take formal separate votes on these individual policy edits at this meeting; staff said the package will be approved at the next meeting.
