The Muscatine City Council approved its consent agenda and a slate of business items during the Aug. 4 meeting. The consent agenda covered bills totaling $1,850,458.69. Separately the council approved a set of contracts, amendments and purchase orders that included:
- Amendment No. 3 to Strand Associates (up to $15,000) for design of a redundant force main to the wastewater treatment plant. - Contract with North Construction not to exceed $24,680 for improvements at 616 East 6th Street funded through CDBG. - Purchase order to Ryan and Associates for $36,204 to replace four HVAC systems at the transfer station. - Purchase order to Truck Country Quad Cities for $128,477 for a single-axle cab-and-chassis for roadway maintenance (replacement of a 2004 truck). - Renewal of an employee assistance program agreement for $7,155. - Purchase order to Van Wall Equipment for $48,700 for a 2026 John Deere tractor for golf maintenance (funded from the golf course fund).
Council members asked clarifying questions on funding sources (CDBG, golf course fund) and asset-management justification for replacements; staff provided answers and the motions carried with unanimous recorded votes where shown.
