Personnel report: district cites strong retention; committee reviews probationary termination recommendation

Personnel staff (introduced as Teresa Brown) presented monthly personnel notes and retention data, reporting a teacher retention rate of 97% and a classified retention rate of about 96%. Brown said the district hired roughly 150 employees over the summer and that staffing needs assessments will begin immediately.
"We did just calculate our, you know, trends and retention data and our teacher retention rate is at 97%, which is fantastic, and our classified retention rate is around 96%." the personnel presenter said. Board members noted the strong trend compared with last year's 90% teacher retention.
The committee also reviewed a separate personnel item: a recommendation to terminate a probationary employee. The administrator handling the item said the case was reviewed and that members could ask questions offline; the committee moved the personnel package to the board table for Wednesday night consideration.
