Staff member (Speaker 1) said the department handled 827 water samples during the last year and described workload pressure in the agent program. To address capacity issues, a current nurse, Caitlin, is preparing for the RS exam and will train over the coming months.
"Caitlin, one of our nurses, is studying for that RS exam... The plan is that she will work towards that over the next 6 months," the staff member said. The staff member emphasized the training is intended to supplement—not replace—existing certified staff and noted the office's current FTE mix and constraints.
Board members expressed support for staff training and discussed how to reassign duties while training occurs.
