Wilson County approved acceptance of a grant totaling $305,004.61 to purchase an ambulance, the Finance Director said. The director explained that earlier figures to fully outfit an ambulance were around $400,000, meaning the county would likely need to pay additional funds (the director cited "a 100,000 coming from fund balance") if the grant terms are not amended. The committee authorized the grant and planned a separate budget amendment to appropriate the required local match or outfitting funds.
The director noted a deadline to complete the purchase by Oct. 30, 2027, after which the county would either need an amended grant or to cover the remainder from its accounts. Committee members approved the grant by voice vote and asked staff to prepare the follow-up budget amendment.
