The Wilson County Budget Committee approved the July 9 minutes and heard a finance report that the county is finishing closing its books this week. The Finance Director told the committee that, except for a FEMA-related item of about $4.244 million, the general fund "would have been, mildly in the black"—"about a couple $100,000 or so."
The director said that was an improvement compared with the prior year, when the county posted a roughly $3 million loss. Auditors are expected to arrive after the county completes the close, and staff said any necessary budget amendments will follow the audit and grant approvals already on the agenda.
