County approves 10-year $1 lease of Marty May fields to Anaconda Little League

Anaconda-Deer Lodge County commissioners on May 5 approved a 10-year lease granting Anaconda Little League exclusive use of both Marty May Baseball Fields in exchange for $1, a move the county attorney said will let the league invest in irrigation and other improvements.
"As long as I know for decades, the Marty May Fields have been used by the Anaconda Little League," County Attorney Morgan Smith said, describing the lease as a common process that mirrors other counties and noting the lease allows other youth baseball programs to use the fields in conjunction with Little League. The lease was described in the minutes as a ten-year agreement for $1 to secure long-term use and encourage field investment.
Commissioners approved the agreement 5-0. The minutes note there has not previously been a formal contract for the fields and that the arrangement contemplates continued youth baseball use and shared use with other baseball programs.
