Pyramid Club granted two-week continuance in licensing show-cause hearing

The City Council continued a show-cause hearing for the Pyramid Club on allegations the business operated without a valid Class D alcoholic beverage license and failed to meet several licensing conditions.
Kyle Bennett introduced himself on behalf of the club and asked for more time: "if we could have a 2 week continuance, that would be ideal." Council members noted the club had outstanding issues including liability insurance, Secretary of State status, fire-department clearance and unpaid daily fees. Councillor Barbara, who spoke in support of the club, said the Pyramid Club "is really important, to our community, to the black community, and to the surrounding neighborhoods there." The council voted to continue the matter to the next council meeting two weeks hence so the club can address the listed deficiencies.
The continuance preserves the council's authority to resume the hearing if the club fails to correct the deficiencies. The clerk and city staff were asked to report back on the outstanding items before the next meeting.
