During discussion of the proposed private road, board members relayed concerns communicated by the fire chief about emergency-vehicle access. The chair summarized the chief's objection: "His concern ... he can't get 2 emergency vehicles in there." The board said the chief or staff may need to visit the site to verify the turnaround and passing areas are sufficient.
Staff noted the board's apparatus measures for reference and said the highway superintendent is also expected to review the plans. The board said the applicant must return with plans that reflect the fire-department requirements and any changes requested by the highway superintendent before the board can proceed.
