Staff presented a renewal request from Barty Martin, a judge on the King County District Court (West), seeking continued exemption from disclosing business customers or clients who paid $12,000 or more to Boyle Martin and Don Thony, PLLC, a firm in which he holds a 16% ownership interest. Staff said Martin performs no work for most of the firm's clients, the firm has six attorneys with separate client lists, and there were no payments from King County District Court to the firm during the past year.
Chair Leach granted the requested relief for the year, noting Martin would have to run for election later this year and that staff recommended granting the relief for the current term.
