County staff and the county attorney presented the FY 2026 audit contract with Thompson, Price, Scott & Adams, noting the contract follows the standard form required by the North Carolina Local Government Commission. Staff said the audit will cover financial statements for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2026, and the auditors' report is scheduled for submission to the LGC by Dec. 31, 2026.
The proposed fee for the county audit was $77,500 with an additional $9,000 for financial statement preparation (bringing the county cost to $86,500) and a $3,000 audit fee for the Caswell County Tourism Development Authority. Commissioner Smith moved approval and the board voted to authorize the chairman to execute the contracts, subject to LGC approval.
