Council approves HR Green sidewalk assessment, says ADA ramps will be inventoried

Anamosa’s City Council on June 10 approved an agreement with engineering firm HR Green for a citywide sidewalk assessment, not to exceed $17,000. City staff said the assessment will identify uneven panels, cross slopes and ADA ramp deficiencies to inform a future sidewalk program. “It’s for a comprehensive assessment, just basically to figure out, step 1 where we go from there,” the city administrator said during the meeting.
Councilmembers pressed staff on scope, private-property distinctions and timing. An HR Green representative said the consultant could start within about 30 days and would produce a report this fall to guide potential ordinance changes and a first-phase sidewalk program. The assessment will also feed a GIS dashboard for city use. Council approved the agreement by motion on the consent agenda.
