The Hampshire County Board of Education voted to approve a contract with Musco Lighting to upgrade athletic field lighting for football, baseball and softball. Superintendent Colette said the district had "allotted $800,000 in our bond funds" for the projects, and that Musco—available through a cooperative—offered a bundled price that met the district's quality and service needs. Colette told the board the quote came in near $701,000 and that using the cooperative meant the district did not need to run a separate competitive bid process.
Colette and the athletic director described Musco's monitoring and long-term service features; a staff speaker said the vendor can "see issues before they happen" on the vendor's back-end monitoring platform and that Musco offers long warranties and integrated installation services. Board members raised questions about funding gaps; Colette said the athletic association and donors had raised just under $100,000 so far and that additional grants (including an NFL grant) were pending. The motion to approve the contract passed by voice vote.
