Police Chief Stifel reported staffing changes in the department and a staff assignment to an upcoming school event. "Eva Connick, the police clerk, has announced her retirement. She is done at the end of June," Chief Stifel said, and added that the department has hired Mandy Hardy, a local dispatcher who will begin on April 1.
Chief Stifel also said Sergeant Gonzales will represent the police department as a judge at the South Bend School District's business-week stockholders presentation and trade show; the district's letter and event directions were included with council agenda materials. The council did not take additional action on the personnel announcement during the meeting.
