The Greenville City Council approved an agreement with engineering firm Gresham Smith to pursue transportation safety grants.
Daniel Sarks said if grants are awarded they could fund projects focused on pedestrian safety, trail connectivity, intersection improvements and traffic-calming measures. The work would include studying possible improvements along Lee Street before any permanent changes are implemented.
The council's action authorizes staff to pursue grant funding and to commission preliminary studies; funding awards and final project decisions would come later if grants are secured.
