Board approves PUD, special-use permit and variances for Route 12/Short Street development

Attorney Larry Freedman and developer Andrea Ragona presented a proposed planned-unit development (PUD), a special-use permit and variances for a parcel at Route 12 and Short Street. The presentation addressed concerns raised at the planning-and-zoning meeting about protecting the tree line between properties; Freedman said he had spoken with the resident and that the trees "appear to be on the property line or on the project property," and Ragona told the board the project team will avoid the trees when installing utilities.
Ragona also addressed questions about parking, saying the number and size of spaces had been discussed with tenants and "have proven to be non-problematic at other properties of similar size." The city record shows IDOT approved the traffic study used for the project. Trustee Katie Fitzgerald moved to approve the PUD, SUP and variance requests; Trustee Rolf Heaney seconded and the board voted five to zero in favor.
