Friend of the Stack asks HRB for volunteers for Smeltermen’s Day tours

Margie Smith, representing Friends of the Stack, addressed the board during public comment to request volunteer help for Smeltermen’s Day tours scheduled for August 8–9. She said volunteers would staff gates, buses and the stack site and that Friends of the Stack would provide narratives and on-site assistance for guides.
"Volunteers are needed to help at the gate, on the bus, and at the stack itself," Margie Smith told the HRB, and she invited members and other community members to coordinate with staff or contact her directly. She also praised the board’s role in recent preservation work, citing the Phoebe Hearst statue as a point of pride.
