Resident Gina Brock said she previously raised a request for a crosswalk at Mass and Taylor and reported that striping quality is poor and nighttime conditions are dangerous for children. "I was back here in August, and I talked about a crosswalk. And I haven't seen no progress on it," she told the council.
A public works representative acknowledged the concerns and explained the practical limits of current operations: "We don't have a thermoplastic machine. These machines are, you know, almost $500,000," the staff member said, adding crews currently apply markings manually and staff is exploring budgeting for better equipment.
Council members thanked staff for the work and said the issue will be put on a future agenda for follow-up. Staff noted traffic-calming work on Mast Avenue and sign/reflector options for crosswalk safety.
