Finance staff outlined the city's proposed property tax levy for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2027, and explained how rates were computed against county-assessed values and the board of equalization timeline. "The pro forma calculation and computed rates per $100 of assessed value are 0.3055 for the general fund, 0.0572 for the health fund, and 0.73 for the downtown special business district," staff said during the presentation. Staff clarified the final rates will be set after county-level adjustments and that no significant change was expected before mid-August.
Using the proposed rates, staff estimated the annual city real estate tax for a homeowner with a $200,000 residence would be approximately $137.83; the city budgeted roughly $2,400,000 in property tax revenue for FY2027. Council accepted the proposed levy rates by voice vote to meet statutory timelines and will finalize numbers after the county completes its assessment review.
