Facilities staff updated the board on several site and utility projects. Staff said the JVAC (bubble) interior is nearly complete and on target for a December 1 start; intermediate north boiler replacement has been put out to bid with those dollars already encumbered into the capital projects budget; and intermediate east had power restored on Hooper Avenue. Staff also described ongoing discussions with Viola about relocating a water-meter installation that had been placed incorrectly years ago and said they expect to accomplish the relocation at minimal cost.
Facilities staff summarized compliance steps: the CUSA facilities department completed health-and-safety evaluations that were submitted to the Department of Education, and staff said routine county walkthroughs of sample schools are performed to ensure ADA and safety compliance. Staff also noted that when external utility work is required (for example JCP&L scheduling), the district has sought assistance from legislative offices to expedite service in the past and is in ongoing communication for current cases.
