Mayor Dixon described a sustained effort to raise Millville's profile with state and federal officials in order to secure grant funding and support for local projects. "One of the goals that I've had besides what I do on a daily basis... is to make those connections outside of the city," he said, describing events and meetings where he delivered lists of project needs to officials including the DOT commissioner and staff from the governor's office.
Dixon said attending local events gave him opportunities to meet officials and press project priorities: "So you give it to her, you give it to the chief of staff, and now you're on the radar." He cited meetings with the lieutenant governor's staff and a conversation with Senator Mike Testa as examples of outreach intended to increase Millville's chances for funding. No specific grant names, amounts, or guaranteed outcomes were given on the record.
