The McFarland City Council on Dec. 3 adopted Ordinance No. 14-2025 to correct a drafting inconsistency in the ordinance implementing a voter-approved sales tax measure. Staff said the ordinance text "incorrectly references a 0.667 voters approval requirement" and that the proposed change is intended to ensure accuracy before implementation.
Staff also noted the ordinance reflects an adjustment to the use tax rate from 1% to 2% and that the council has authority to adopt amendments that do not alter the overall tax collection rate. The mayor opened the public hearing, received no public comment and the council voted unanimously to approve the ordinance.
Council members had no substantive questions about the technical correction; the vote was taken by roll call and passed with all present voting 'Aye.'
