Board approves two consent‑calendar zoning petitions on summary calendar

During its Feb. 24 meeting the Newport Zoning Board placed two summary petitions on the consent calendar and approved them together by unanimous voice vote. The petitions — for a rear addition at 85 Dixon St. (Glenn Herosian) and a second‑floor dormer at 7 Malborn Rd. (Eleanor Walters) — were adopted on the record based on staff reports and supporting documents.

Vice Chair read the staff recommendation and moved to adopt the board's findings of fact, the staff reports and related documents. "I move to place all the matters, call the summary on the consent calendar," the motion read; the chair called for a voice vote and the board signaled unanimous approval. The approvals carry the routine condition that projects must be started and substantially completed within 12 months or seek an extension, and that outstanding public‑notice invoices be paid before recording.

Both petitioners were present and affirmed they had no outstanding objections. The approvals were procedural and did not include additional conditions beyond the standard timing and notice requirements.
