The South Chicago Heights Board of Trustees voted to approve Ordinance 2026-ORD-2, granting a special use for truck parking at 3011 E. East End Avenue, during its Jan. 20 regular meeting. Trustee Eric Stanton moved to approve the ordinance and Trustee John Ross seconded; the roll call vote was 5 to 0 in favor, with Trustee Marrufo absent.
The ordinance authorizes truck parking within the village's I (industrial) zoning district at the specified address. Mayor Terry Matthews presented the item and the board recorded the formal vote as part of new business. After reconvening from closed session, the board returned to related business licensing. Applicant Larry Dreter described the proposed operation as a transfer station and trustees asked about the number of trucks, surveillance cameras, parking-lot lighting and whether garbage would be exposed. Mayor Matthews and trustees raised no objections to Clerk Catherine Linan issuing the required business license for the site.
The approval allows the property owner or operator to proceed with local permitting subject to any conditions spelled out in the ordinance and the village's licensing process. The meeting record shows the motion passed 5 to 0 on Jan. 20, 2026.
