Cyrus Donato, a candidate for Port of Tacoma commissioner in 2025, told the commission he has been featured in online stories that prompted hostile comments and said he received threatening phone calls connected to fishing-vessel owners. Donato argued that a legal description on the F-1 could be correlated to his address and that omitting both address and legal description would better protect his family.
Donato testified: "I've been personally threatened from phone calls from fishing vessel owners for crews that I've been able to connect with with, federal authorities where, they've been, you know, rescued and and taken off off of the vessel." After questioning from the chair about whether removing a legal description would materially improve safety, Chair Leach said he would grant the request but conditioned the exemption on Donato amending his F-1 to include his full legal name while indicating residence only by county. Staff will prepare the order and contact Donato to complete the process.
